Artist’s description

Havnø Mølle, built in 1842, is the oldest windmill in Northern Jutland(Havnø Mølle er Nordjyllands ældste vindmølle) Havnø Mølle, which is a thatched Dutch windmill, is North Jutland’s oldest windmill. The mill was built in 1842 by landowner Cristen J. Kjeldsen, Havnø. The purpose was primarily to grind groats for export to Norway and to produce feed for the estate’s cattle. The well-kept mill, which is beautifully located between Mariager Fjord and the Lounkær forests, was restored in the period 1995-2001 and today functions as a working museum mill. From the mill hill there is a beautiful view of Mariager Fjord and the nearby fjord meadows. During the tourist season, there is a tour of the mill, which runs if the wind allows it – and over the summer, flour is ground on special mill days. This photo was taken on cold november afternoon in 2021.
